WALKER, Stanley David (1894-1964)
Stanley David Walker was born on 29 May 1894, a son of David Walker and Christina nee Adcock.
He was enrolled at Geelong College as a day student in 1909, leaving in 1910. His address at entry was 105 Fenwick St, Geelong.
He served with 70th Infantry (Militia) prior to World War I, but very shortly after the outbreak of war he enlisted (No. 736) at Broadmeadows on 3 September 1914 in the 4th Light Horse, AIF. He embarked overseas on HMAT A24 Benalla on 19 October 1914, with B Company, 8 Battalion, under 2nd Lieutenant J C Paul, also an Old Geelong Collegian, who was subsequently killed at the Gallipoli Landing. Walker served through the Gallipoli and Western Front campaigns, and
embarked for Australia on 15 November 1918, four days after the signing of the Armistice.
He died at Geelong on 7 July 1964.
His brother, William Leslie Walker (1899-1960), was also educated at Geelong College.
